As Arsenal take on Chelsea this weekend, talk of which player might get in each other’s XI is rife among fans of both clubs.

Both the Gunners and the Blues have plenty of quality within their squads and while Arsenal top the table, there’s no doubt some from the Chelsea side would get in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Indeed, after Petr Cech gave his own version of a combined XI, Carlton Cole has now done the same.

This is Petr Cech’s Arsenal vs Chelsea combined XI. What changes would you make?

Carlton Cole names his combined Arsenal and Chelsea XI

Picking a combined XI is always a tough job and is very much the opinion of the person doing the job.

Interestingly though here, Cech went with both Odegaard and Palmer in his XI, while for Carlton Cole, he was asked to pick between two players from each team in each position.

In goal, Cole went for David Raya, while his back four was made up of Reece James, Gabriel, William Saliba and Marc Cucurella.

In midfield, another tough choice is Caicedo or Rice but Cole went with a midfield two of Rice and Zubimendi in the end.

In the final third, Cole opted for Saka down one wing, with Eze as the other. However, when it came to picking between Cole Palmer and Martin Odegaard, Cole went with the Chelsea man as his number ten.

Up top, it was between Joao Pedro and Viktor Gyokeres and on this occasion, Cole went with the Brazilian striker over Chelsea’s main man.

Carlton Cole’s combined XI in full: David Raya, Reece James, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Marc Cucurella, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Ebere Eze, Joao Pedro.

It will be interesting going into tomorrow’s game just how many of those XI selected by Cole here play.

Crucially, for Arsenal, it is a massive game after Man City won at Leeds. The Gunners simply cannot afford to drop any points now.

There are some big players in that Chelsea squad who can win games on their own. Arsenal, then, need to ensure those players cannot influence the game.
