Cesc Fabregas has been speaking very highly of the work Arsene Wenger did with him at Arsenal and how he is now applying his learning at Como.

The Spanish coach has just enjoyed a very successful season at Como, helping the Italian club qualify for European football, and the possibility of Champions League football is still on the cards.

The 39-year-old is making real waves around Europe, and the former Gunner could be primed to take over from Mikel Arteta when he eventually leaves.

Now, after making history with Como, Fabregas has been speaking about his journey in management and has discussed the impact Wenger has had on his career.

Cesc Fabregas says Arsene Wenger at Arsenal was his best coach

Cesc Fabregas believes that Arsene Wenger was the best coach he ever worked alongside during his career.

The former Spanish midfielder has worked under some incredible coaches like Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola, but Wenger was his favourite.

During their time together at Arsenal, Fabregas made 303 appearances under the French coach, who gave him his debut for the Gunners aged just 16.

When asked about the best coach he’s ever known, Fabregas told El Partidazo de COPE: “The best coach I’ve known? For example, I’ve known Carlo Ancelotti, he’s one of those people who is first a person and then a coach. I would have really liked to have been able to work with him.

“But if I had to pick one, it would surely be Arsene Wenger, because of everything he gave me, everything he believed in me, the opportunity, the confidence…

Fabregas has been linked with the Arsenal job, and his ability to work with younger players proves why he could be the next Wenger.

“Now, with such a young group that I have, I try to pass on many of the values and things he taught me,” he added.

“At 16 years old, when I arrived, he showed me how to develop the boys, what things he gave more importance to, how he reacted when they failed, when they did something good off the pitch and how to treat one player or another depending on the moment in their career.

“He’s a person who helped me a lot and made me see football and my life from another perspective.”

Arteta still has plenty of years left in him at the Emirates Stadium, but once he does eventually call time on his stint at Arsenal, Fabregas looks like the ideal replacement.
