Everyone seems to have an opinion about Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres these days.

The 27-year-old joined the Gunners from Sporting CP in the summer, and fans saw him as the striker who would end all of Arsenal’s goalscoring problems.

So far, Gyokeres has scored five goals in 11 starts, which is not a bad return at all considering that this is his first-ever season in the Premier League.

Now, Chris Sutton has had his say on the Arsenal number 14.

Chris Sutton disagrees with Gary Neville’s claim about Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres has done a lot of good work at Arsenal so far.

The Swede has led the line brilliantly, and although he went through a run of games without goals, nobody can question his work rate.

After his brace against Atletico Madrid to end his goal drought, the striker received praise from many people in the footballing world.

Gary Neville claimed that Gyokeres will score 20 goals this season, but none of them will be important because he is just not that player.

Sutton has now said the complete opposite.

“Viktor Gyokeres got a couple of goals for the Gunners in the Champions League in midweek and I can see why Arteta raves about him,” the pundit wrote in his column on BBC Sport.

“People may view Gyokeres as something of a flat-track bully, but he is going to score some important goals for Arsenal, and he gives them something they previously lacked up front.”

Viktor Gyokeres makes everyone around him at Arsenal better

Arsenal fans all want Gyokeres to score goals, and we’re sure he will.

However, even in the games in which he doesn’t, the Swedish striker occupies the central defenders and stretches the opposition backline.

That gives space to the likes of Eberechi Eze, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, who all look better because of Gyokeres.

That is the reason why Arteta has been full of praise for the striker, and as long as he keeps doing that, teams will struggle against Arsenal.
