The Premier League is the best league in the world for a reason, and that was on show this weekend.

While Arsenal fans would have hated the way Saturday’s game against Aston Villa panned out, a last-minute winner during a crunch clash between two title rivals makes for a fantastic sporting spectacle.

As you can imagine, Arsenal’s title credentials have been called into question after this defeat.

Earlier this season, Chris Sutton backed Arsenal to win the league, but, speaking on BBC 606, the pundit has now stated he’s not as certain in his prediction, admitting that he’s worried that his prediction now won’t come true.

Chris Sutton worried his Arsenal prediction won’t come true

Sutton spoke about Arsenal after being beaten by Aston Villa.

Robbie Savage was quick to mock his co-host, claiming that he’s gone too early on his title prediction.

Sutton agreed that he may have been too brash when tipping Arsenal to win the league, claiming that he’s now worried he’ll end up with egg on his face.

“You’ve gone early on Arsenal, haven’t you? You’ve gone early,” Robbie Savage said.

“I’ve gone early, but you know me, Rob,” Sutton said.

“I’ve gone brave and early and I’m a little bit worried. But let’s hear from Villa fans. Let’s hear from Arsenal fans.

“Are you having a wobble, Arsenal fans? Looks that way.”

Arsenal are matching title-winning pace

However, the Gunners are still very much in the box seat in the title race, and they are very much keeping up with what has historically been title-winning pace.

33 points after 15 games is there are thereabouts in terms of where a team should be if they want to win the Premier League, and, while Sutton is worried about Arsenal’s potential title hopes, it’s certainly not time to panic just yet.

Arsenal can win the Premier League, make no mistake about it.
