Arsenal fans were happy with the result but not the performance against Manchester United.
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game as the Gunners picked up just their sixth win at Old Trafford in the Premier League era.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side were far from their best and looked disjointed throughout the game as Ruben Amorim’s side controlled large periods.
Viktor Gyokeres struggled to make an impact and was marshalled well by United’s defence before being substituted on the hour mark. Pundit Chris Sutton doesn’t think the Swede was helped by one teammate in particular.

Chris Sutton thinks Gabriel Martinelli didn’t help Viktor Gyokeres on his Arsenal debut
Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Monday Night Club’ podcast, Sutton believes that Gabriel Martinelli ‘didn’t look’ for Gyokeres during his performance against Manchester United.
Sutton stated: “With Gyokeres, I mean, it’s just typical, isn’t it? The instant judgment. You know, we’re making our minds up after an hour.
“You know, normally when a player goes to a new club, some players fit in better than others and, you know, Rory makes the point about, you know, Mbeumo and Cunha and Sesko at Manchester United.
“But, you know, maybe Cunha and Mbeumo fitting in because they know the Premier League and have that understanding. But normally when players go to new clubs, it takes time to bed in and settle in.
“And certainly nothing against centre backs and what have you. But, you know, in the final third, it’s about combination. It’s about that understanding of what a certain player, you know, how he’s going to play and how he’s going to link up with you. And so they’re getting that.
“I thought the service, or he didn’t get any service yesterday. Saka had a pretty poor game.
“Martinelli didn’t really look for him. So it’s going to take time. And of course Arsenal, you know, last season, played with that false nine, played a different way.”
Gary Neville criticised Martinelli for his performance in the match, alongside fellow winger Bukayo Saka as both players were marked out of the game.
Martin Odegaard believes Martinelli is a ‘top top’ player, however, the winger appears to be suffering from a major lack of confidence.
Noni Madueke failed to impress with chance to replace Gabriel Martinelli
Martinelli may not have been much of a threat in an attacking sense, however, the Brazilian worked defensively throughout the 60 minutes he was on the pitch.
Noni Madueke replaced Martinelli and the new signing did not take the opportunity to stake his claim for a starting berth on the left flank.

Arsenal fans were furious with Madueke as he allowed Amad Diallo to breeze past him on more than one occasion and the 23-year-old offered nothing going forward.
The left wing position is a real problem for Arteta and supporters are desperate for the manager to make one more signing in the transfer window to solve the issue.
