Christian Norgaard became an Arsenal player last week, and the midfielder isn’t wasting any time at all in terms of settling in at the Emirates.

Indeed, Norgaard joined Arsenal from Brentford for £15m last week, and he’s raring to get going at the Emirates.

The Dane has immediately flown out to La Manga to join up with his new teammates, and he’s getting to work trying to impress Mikel Arteta.

Norgaard was a key focus of a training video put out by Arsenal on YouTube this week, and during this session, the midfielder looked sharp.

The former Brentford man was working his socks off in numerous drills, while, at one point, he linked up very well with Mikel Merino.

Christian Norgaard assists Mikel Merino in Arsenal training

The most notable moment from this training video was a passage of play between Christian Norgaard and Mikel Merino.

Norgaard worked to intercept the ball before laying off to Mikel Merino who finished the ball tidily into the bottom corner.

Merino earned praise for his performances as a striker last season, and he looks to still have that killer instinct in front of goal.

Norgaard linked up well with the £25m man here, and that could be a sign of things to come.

Mikel Merino and Christian Norgaard could be an important partnership

Norgaard and Merino could well be an important partnership for Arsenal at times this season.

Of course, with Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice in the side, they probably won’t be the first-choice midfield pairing, but they’re likely to play together in a number of cup games when the side is rotated.

That may be a more important role than many realise.

It’s now been five years since Arsenal last won a trophy, and progression in the domestic cups is vital as Arsenal look to get back into the winners’ circle.

Experience of winning trophies is vital for any team that wants to progress and kick on, and, sadly, this group don’t have that collective experience.

Merino and Norgaard may have a key role to play together if Arsenal want to progress in the FA Cup or the Carabao Cup next term.
