Clinton Morrison has revealed his belief that one of Arsenal’s attacking players is better than Jeremy Doku, ahead of the Gunners’ game against Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal entertain City at the Emirates in a huge clash that could have significant ramifications on the Premier League title race.

For the first time in years, the North Londoners arguably have a better squad at their disposal than the Citizens, and will be expected to secure all three points.

While City are likely to have to field a slightly unconventional starting eleven, partly due to injuries, Mikel Arteta has an array of different options and could easily make several changes from the team that has started in the last couple of matches.

Clinton Morrison says Eberechi Eze is better than Jeremy Doku

Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze for £67.5 million in late August.

The England international has been acquired to compete for a spot on the left-hand side of the Gunners’ attack, with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard struggling last season.

Eze started his Arsenal career impressively against Nottingham Forest last weekend, but produced a more subdued display in midweek against Athletic Club.

Asked to pick a combined eleven of players from Arteta’s squad and Pep Guardiola’s squad ahead of Sunday’s showdown, former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison waxed lyrical about Eze.

However, whilst claiming that the 27-year-old is better than Jeremy Doku, Morrison left the Arsenal star out of the combined team in favour of the Belgian.

“[Noni] Madueke has been outstanding; he’s in with Doku and [Erling] Haaland,” he said on the Premier League Productions fanzone.

“I love Eze. Doku isn’t better than Eze, but he’s been better than Eze so far this season. Eze is my favourite player, but Doku has been better this season.”

Eze has registered an assist for Arsenal, but he is yet to get off the mark in front of goal this season.

Meanwhile, Doku provided two assists in the Manchester Derby last week, as well as scoring against Napoli in the Champions League.

While Eze has been described as ‘exciting’, he’ll need to start turning this flair into tangible output soon in a red and white shirt.

Clinton Morrison’s combined Arsenal and Man City XI

Morrison named five Arsenal players and six City players in his combined eleven.

With Bukayo Saka out injured, the legendary number nine selected Madueke, with Doku and Haaland completing his front line.

Gianluigi Donnarumma got the nod over David Raya in between the sticks, while Jurrien Timber, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes made the back four.

Morrison selected Josko Gvardiol over Riccardo Calafiori at left-back, revealing that he’s not a fan of the Italian.

“The problem is that if Myles Lewis-Skelly had been playing, I’d have put him in, as I don’t like Calafiori,” he said.

Rodri and Declan Rice unsurprisingly made the midfield trio, while he controversially selected Phil Foden over the likes of Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi and Tijani Reijnders.
