Arsenal assistant manager Carlos Cuesta is on the verge of leaving the club.
The Spaniard has been Mikel Arteta’s assistant since the summer of 2020. He is a very popular member of the staff behind the scenes, and the players absolutely love him.
However, reports revealed on Tuesday that Cuesta is set to join Parma to become their manager, which is a magnificent achievement for someone who is still 29 years old.
If that move does go through, Arsenal will need to bring in a top-class replacement, and Gooners already have someone in mind.
Arsenal fans all want Santi Cazorla to replace Carlos Cuesta
Santi Cazorla is an absolute fan favourite at Arsenal.
The Spaniard spent six years as a player at the Emirates and brought a lot of joy to Gooners throughout his time at the club.
Now, Arsenal fans want him to come back and join Arteta’s coaching staff.
One Arsenal fan tweeted: “There’s only one man to replace Carlos Cuesta and that man is Santi Cazorla.”
Another wrote: “With Carlos Cuesta gone, it is time to bring back Santi Cazorla.”
“With Carlos Cuesta going, bring Santi Cazorla home if he does retire. Arteta has always said he’d give Santi the opportunity if he wanted it,” said another.
Another Gooner wrote: “Santi Cazorla. The time is now!”
“We need to bring in Santi Cazorla,” tweeted another.
Arsenal have ‘left the door open’ for Santi Cazorla to return
Cazorla is a special man.
The Spaniard is not just a phenomenal footballer with an incredible understanding of the game, but he is a joy to have around the training ground.
Cazorla’s knowledge and experience will definitely help the young players at Arsenal, and bringing him back would not be a bad option at all.
In fact, in June last year, Cazorla revealed that Arsenal were open to having him back at the club.
He told Sky Sports: “I have a very special affection for Arsenal. I spent six wonderful years there and I know how much all the people love me there.
“Of course, I was fortunate to share a dressing room with Mikel Arteta, and now he is the manager. We had conversations about that, but right now I am not focused on anything other than contributing to this club, Oviedo, and continuing to enjoy football as a player.
“After that, we will see what the future holds for me. It is clear that Arsenal is a club that has always left the door open to me to return.”
