Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff are set for another big change this summer, with one valuable member set to leave to take up a new opportunity.

The Arsenal boss and his trusty team have been in charge of the Gunners for over five years now, playing a huge part in the club’s return to the top.

In that time, Mikel Arteta has had some trials and tribulations to overcome, with recent years seeing them come close but narrowly miss out on the Premier League title.

While Arsenal are gearing up for a huge 2025/26 season, there is set to be a huge change to the backroom staff.

Carlos Cuesta set to leave Arsenal coaching staff to join Parma as manager

The Arsenal coaching staff have undergone plenty of changes over recent seasons as new people come and go in their attempt to help Arteta to the top.

One of those is Carlos Cuesta, who was appointed by the Gunners in 2020 to help the manager delegate some of his responsibilities.

He is one of four assistant coaches, which includes Albert Stuivenberg, Miguel Molina, and Nicolas Jover.

Cuesta’s work at Arsenal hasn’t gone unnoticed, as several different teams have looked to bring him in as manager in the past few years.

Norwich City wanted Cuesta as their head coach, but were unable to get a deal done in 2024 to bring the Spaniard to Carrow Road.

While many have tried and failed, it appears as though Serie A side Parma have succeeded, as Fabrizio Romano claims that Cuesta is set to become their new manager.

The 29-year-old is claimed to be in talks over the final details, before the green light is given for the potential move.

That exit comes as a slight blow to Arteta and the Arsenal coaching setup, with work now to be done on potential replacements.

Arsenal set for search on new coaching option

With Cuesta now set to leave the Arsenal coaching team, attention is likely to turn towards the possible replacements.

Pre-season begins next month, where the Gunners will have their own plans for training and several drills they will want to set up.

With one less experienced coach at his disposal, it may be time for Arteta to look towards some new names he could bring in.

There is an obvious choice to promote from within, such as bringing through one of the coaches from the Arsenal academy.

Having already had experience working in the environment at London Colney and knowing what it takes to develop players at the club, it could be a wise decision.

Coaches such as Mehmet Ali, Max Porter or Toby Griffiths could get the call to make the move up to the senior side.

Beyond them, there could be an option to bring back Jack Wilshere.

The former player left his role as the under-18s head coach to join Norwich City, but having failed to land the managerial position there, he ended up leaving.

While there are ambitions of becoming a manager, Wilshere may not be able to resist a return to the Emirates Stadium.

Beyond him, there could be some new names and faces through the door that could bring some fresh ideas to the squad going into next season.
