Andrea Berta is working on key contracts at Arsenal, one of whom is William Saliba.

Saliba signed for Arsenal back in 2019, but didn’t begin to make an impression at the club until the 2022/23 season.

Successive loan spells have made the Frenchman who he is today, being an invaluable part of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

There is some anxiety from Arsenal fans surrounding Saliba, who is wanted by Real Madrid, but the concern is set to be eased.

David Ornstein confirms William Saliba’s new Arsenal contract

Real Madrid are eager to sign Saliba in the summer transfer window, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

David Ornstein revealed that the centre-back has instead committed his future to Arsenal, with his mind made up on his future.

The Athletic confirmed that contract talks with Saliba opened in May, and talks have now concluded, with the 24-year-old set to put pen to paper on a new deal in the ‘coming days’.

It’s a huge triumph for Arsenal, who have already tied Gabriel Magalhaes down to a new deal, securing the futures of their central defensive duo.

Sporting director Berta wasn’t going to mess around when it came to getting the defender to sign a new contract, offering the France international a significant pay rise.

Over in Madrid, Florentino Perez was stunned by Arsenal’s salary offer to Saliba, which is said to exceed the €12 million mark.

Saliba is set to become one of Arsenal’s highest earners, which can’t be argued, given how valuable the defender is both to Arteta and to the club.

Saliba’s market value has rocketed

It’s one thing performing on the pitch, but it’s another to become a poster boy for your club in world football.

For a long period, Arsenal were seen as a stepping stone for elite players, but the narrative has been abolished by Arteta.

Arsenal have a team made up of some of the most valuable players in the world, with Saliba’s market value set to rocket again once his contract is agreed.

At present, Transfermarkt lists Saliba as having a value worth €80m, a figure that has exploded, given that he was valued at just €22.5m when he signed in 2019.

Saliba only wants Arsenal, turning his nose up at even Real Madrid, securing the Gunners a player whose presence is indispensable.
