Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry are set to remain at Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Arsenal have decided not to seek January moves for Hale End academy gems Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry.

Both Walters and Cozier-Duberry have impressed at academy level and are highly-rated at the Emirates Stadium.

Walters, in particular, has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta, as the 19-year-old has featured on the bench for first-team fixtures on a number of occasions so far this season. The teenage defender has also impressed the Arsenal first-team squad in training. Oleksandr Zinchenko has previously discussed an occasion on which Walters was able to outmuscle Gabriel Jesus.

Cozier-Duberry has drawn interest from Newcastle United and Wolves this month, who are aware that the 18-year-old attacker’s current contract with the north London club is due to expire at the end of this season.

In that respect, Walters is in the same boat, as he too will become a free agent this summer as things stand.

What next for Arsenal gems Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry?

Despite both Walters and Cozier-Duberry being out of contract at the end of the season, the Gunners are not willing to sanction a deadline day departure for either of them.

According to journalist Simon Collings, reporting on X, Arsenal want to keep both players and are currently in “talks” over new deals for the duo. However, there has not yet been any agreement reached.

Academy director Per Mertesacker will be desperate to see Walters and Cozier-Duberry pen fresh terms with Arsenal. It is vital that the club are able to hang on to their most talented youth prospects.

In order to do so, though, they may well have convince the pair that a realistic pathway to regular first-team involvement exists for them at Arsenal. Without those assurances, it would be understandable if both Walter and Cozier-Duberry felt that now was the right time to walk away from the club.
