Declan Rice and David Raya lead Arsenal player tributes following the tragic passing of Liverpool star Diogo Jota

Arsenal along with the rest of the world are mourning the loss of Diogo Jota.

News broke that Liverpool’s forward tragically passed away alongside his brother Andre Silva in a car accident in Spain.

The 28-year-old had recently got married to his long-term partner, with whom he had three children.

Jota was part of Liverpool’s recent Premier League title success and helped secure his country of Portugal their first UEFA Nations League title. Arsenal and their players have sent messages of love and support.

Declan Rice and David Raya send tributes to Diogo Jota

Declan Rice and David Raya are among several Arsenal players to have reacted to Jota’s passing and have posted tributes via their Instagram accounts.

On his Instagram story, Rice wrote: “So so sad. Heartbreaking! RIP to Diogo & His Brother Andre. Sending love and condolences to his family.”

Meanwhile, Raya stated: “Rest in peace Diogo and Andre. All my condolences to their family and friends.”

Arsenal themselves released a message via their X account which read: “The thoughts of everyone at Arsenal are with Diogo’s family, friends and all associated with Liverpool Football Club. Rest in peace, Diogo.”

Mikel Merino and Oleksandr Zinchenko have also sent tributes as the footballing world mourns the loss of an outstanding player and even better person.

Diogo Jota’s Premier League record

Jota had an intelligence that made him one of the most ruthless strikers in the Premier League within his 190 appearances.

With spells for Liverpool and Wolves, the striker scored 63 goals in the league and created a further 24 to help guide both clubs to success.
