It may be something of an end of an era once this Premier League season draws to a close.
Indeed, there have been rumours that Pep Guardiola could leave Manchester City, while it has been confirmed that Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Those two departures would mark the end of an era in English football, and, who knows? Perhaps Arsenal could be the team that defines the next era.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Declan Rice has shared his reaction to Salah’s departure from Liverpool, and the midfielder says he’s actually happy to see the Egyptian leaving.
Will Bukayo Saka ever reach Mohamed Salah’s level in the Premier League?
Declan Rice happy to see the back of Mo Salah
Rice sent a message to Salah as he prepares to play his final games for Liverpool.
The England star said he feels lucky to have played against The Egyptian King, but, ultimately, he’s happy to see him leaving due to the amount of goals he has scored against him over the years.
“I’ve been fortunate and very lucky enough to play against him many times,” Rice said.
“A really nice guy, a really humble guy off the pitch, on the pitch, a killer. Someone who you can give the ball to and within a moment the ball could be in the back of your net.
“I’ve been on the receiving end of that a few times. But it’s been an honour to play against him in the Premier League.
“I’m happy to see the end of him because he’s been such a good player and scored too many goals against me. So, yeah, all the best to him.
Declan Rice’s record vs Mohamed Salah
Rice says he’s happy to see Salah going, and it’s not hard to understand why.
Indeed, you just have to look at the numbers to see how the midfielder has struggled against Salah in recent years.
| Games | 13 |
| Wins | 1 |
| Draws | 3 |
| Losses | 9 |
| Mohamed Salah goals | 9 |
Rice has only ever won one game against Salah in his entire career, while the Egyptian has scored nine goals in 13 games against Rice’s teams in the past.
This has been a one-sided rivalry over the years, but Rice may get the last laugh by winning the Premier League in Salah’s final season in England.
