When you think about Bergkamp, your mind will immediately go to his iconic partnership with Thierry Henry at Arsenal.
However, the legendary French striker is not Bergkamp’s favourite teammate.

Dennis Bergkamp snubs Thierry Henry and names Patrick Vieira as his favourite Arsenal teammate
Henry and Bergkamp were a nightmare to play against.
Defenders were often terrified of the two Arsenal attackers, and on many occasions, the battle was over before it even began because of how feared they were.
Henry is regarded as Arsenal’s greatest ever player, but the Frenchman has always claimed that Bergkamp is the best player he has ever played with.
So, when Ian Wright asked the Dutch icon to name his favourite teammate on The Overlap, many imagined that he would pick Henry, but that didn’t happen.
Bergkamp gave it a little thought and then named fellow Arsenal legend and captain of the Invincibles, Patrick Vieira.
That is a big surprise – not because Vieira was a bad teammate, far from it. But because everyone expected him to name Henry as his favourite teammate.
Patrick Vieira feels the same way about Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp
Bergkamp’s admiration for Vieira is great to see, and the feeling is mutual.
The two legends spent the better part of a decade playing together at Arsenal, and they seem to have had a huge impact on each other.
Back in May 2022, Vieira was asked to name the best player he ever played with, and he listed plenty of names.

The Frenchman was then asked to cut down his shortlist. He brought it down to three players, and the first on the list was Bergkamp.
He said, as per The Mirror: “It’s really difficult to pick one player… but if I have to choose one or two players, it’ll be Dennis Bergkamp, Zinedine Zidane, and I have to put Thierry there because Thierry is [a top player].”
