Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has always had his doubters.

The Spaniard had no prior managerial experience when the Gunners appointed him in 2019, which made it a big gamble. However, Arteta won the FA Cup and Community Shield in his first year, and that put some credit in his bank.

The next two years were very difficult, but Arsenal have since challenged for the Premier League title four seasons in a row.

The pressure is now on the 42-year-old to win it, but what if he doesn’t?

Alan Shearer thinks Arteta could be sacked. Here’s what a few Arsenal fans have told Arsenal Insider.

Fans tell Arsenal Insider whether Mikel Arteta should be sacked if Arsenal don’t win the Premier League title

Arsenal Insider asked Arsenal fans to discuss Mikel Arteta’s future in the event that he does not win the Premier League title this season.

Over 2500 Gooners had their say on Facebook, and the opinion is divided.

One said: “If Arsenal win neither the Premier League nor the Champions League, he should be sacked.”

Another wrote: “Yes, whether he wins the league or not, he should be axed!”

“At this point, I’d say let him go. He has done his best, and obviously, his best isn’t good enough,” commented another.

Many other Arsenal fans are still fully behind Arteta.

One wrote: “At what level did Arteta join Arsenal? Before he took over, Arsenal were between 7th and 8th in the league table without a good squad. But right now and for the last two seasons, we’ve always maintained second position. I can bet anything that, despite the current form, Arsenal are going to win the Premier League this season. Gooners, don’t be shaking, it’s your time.”

Another commented: “He’s the best manager for the job, so he stays. Let’s see what happens in the end.”

“I think we need him, even if we fail 18 times,” wrote another.

Arsenal fans need to calm down and back their team

Irrespective of what has happened since the turn of the year, Arsenal have been the best team in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners are still five points clear at the top of the table, and their destiny remains in their hands.

All Arsenal need to do now is match Manchester City’s results from now until the end of the season. If they do that, they will be crowned champions in May.

That is why the fans should be fully behind the players and Arteta until the end of the campaign. That will surely help them.

If it doesn’t, we can then discuss Arteta’s future as Arsenal manager again.
