Eberechi Eze has previously described one of Arsenal’s players as “incredible” and said he could become one of the best footballers in the world.

Arsenal fans have been in dreamland over the past two days after their side beat arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Eberechi Eze on Wednesday.

Spurs were in for Eze for over a week, but in the space of a few hours, the transfer rumour mill went from ‘Arsenal make approach for Eze‘ to ‘Arsenal have sealed Eze deal‘.

That said, Eze has made no secret of the fact Arsenal are his boyhood team, and he himself has spoken highly about one of their players.

Eberechi Eze previously said Declan Rice could become one of the world’s best

Back in 2023, Eze took part in an interview on Sky Sports in which he reviewed some of his peers’ stats on the then-new EA FC 24 game.

When presented with Declan Rice’s stats, Eze couldn’t sing the Arsenal star’s praises highly enough.

“That’s a lie. Is it lower than mine? It can’t be lower than mine. It’s bad man. He could be incredible, an incredible player,” Eze said.

“One of the best defensive midfielders in the world for you?” Eze was asked.

“Potentially, he can be, it’s a journey, he’s just started at Arsenal, so we can see what he can do, but I wouldn’t put it past him at all.”

Declan Rice has come a long way since then

Rice had only just begun his Arsenal career at the time, having joined from West Ham in a £105million deal.

The England international has done so well at the Emirates Stadium that some Gunners fans have joked about having robbed the Hammers.

Rice has made 104 appearances for Arsenal, registering 16 goals and 21 assists, and he is a real picture of consistency in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

Then there were those absolutely glorious free kicks against Real Madrid in the Champions League, both goals of the highest quality.

Rice is now 26 and heading into his prime as a midfielder. With Eze set to play alongside him, they will fancy their chances of bringing some major silverware to N5.
