Arsenal are moving quickly to bring in a high-quality alternative to Kai Havertz in wake of his knee injury, according to David Ornstein.

Kai Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines, which has forced Arsenal back into the market in order to find an alternative option.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has been mentioned as a potential target for Arsenal, along with Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

However, David Ornstein has now dropped a bombshell regarding another player that will have Gunners fans buzzing.

Arsenal talks under way over Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

Arsenal have now made their move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to Ornstein.

The Athletic journalist has reported that negotiations are now underway between Arsenal and Palace following Havertz’s knee injury.

Arsenal are now in a position to beat bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur to Eze’s signing, Ornstein suggested.

The transfer insider said Spurs had the conditions of a deal agreed with both Palace and Eze.

However, Palace reportedly would not finalise a deal because they want Eze available for their Europa Conference League play-off match with Fredrikstad on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have ‘indicated a willingness to meet the conditions’, according to Ornstein.

In addition, Eze is keen on joining the Gunners, ‘leaving Spurs with little option but to look elsewhere’.

David Ornstein’s prior comments on how much Arsenal could have to pay for Eberechi Eze

Ornstein recently claimed that Palace will not budge from their £68million asking price on Eze even after the expiry of his release clause.

“If the finances are right or are going to be right then there could be a deal to be done,” Ornstein said on the Athletic FC podcast last week.

“There’s a lot of talk about this release clause £60million + £8million and when it expires.

“But even if there’s no release clause, that is still the sort of money that Palace will be looking for.”

It remains to be seen how much Arsenal will look to spend on Eze, but one thing’s for sure – he is a “world-class” player – in Don Hutchison’s words – who will strengthen their ranks considerably.
