Eberechi Eze’s first game for Arsenal has potentially just become a lot easier

Eberechi Eze is set to sign for Arsenal in a £68 million deal, and could make his debut in red and white next week at Anfield against Liverpool.

The Gunners have moved swiftly and decisively to seal a deal for the attacking midfielder, swooping in on Wednesday afternoon to secure him ahead of Tottenham.

Eze will undergo his medical on Friday at the Sohba Realty training ground, which means his signing will likely come too late for him to feature against Leeds at the Emirates on Saturday.

That said, the Crystal Palace star should be signed in time to be involved in an early title six-pointer against Arne Slot’s team next week.

Jeremie Frimpong will miss Liverpool vs Arsenal through injury

Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 in their first Premier League game of the season last weekend, courtesy of a 13th-minute header from Riccardo Calafiori.

Meanwhile, Liverpool edged past Bournemouth in a chaotic game at Anfield in the campaign’s curtain raiser.

The Gunners host newly-promoted Leeds this weekend, while the Merseysiders travel to the north-east to take on Newcastle on Monday.

The outcomes of these two games will determine how crucial it is for Arsenal to secure points at Anfield next week.

It’s likely that Mikel Arteta’s team will need at least a point on Merseyside, to ensure they’re in a good position to attack the title moving forward.

Liverpool have already been dealt a huge blow ahead of the clash, with journalist Paul Joyce reporting that Jeremie Frimpong will be out until after the international break with a hamstring injury.

The Dutch right-back will subsequently be absent for the visit of Arsenal, meaning Slot will have to reconfigure his back-line.

Eberechi Eze can exploit Conor Bradley for Arsenal

Conor Bradley is the most likely replacement for Frimpong.

While the Northern Irish full-back is currently suffering from an injury of his own, he is expected to be in contention to feature against Arsenal.

If Slot favours him over Joe Gomez, then the Gunners’ latest signing could have a field day.

Arteta will be keen to throw Eze in from the start at Anfield, and if he’s deployed off Arsenal’s left, against Bradley, then he can cause havoc.

While the Liverpool star is an adept defender in his own right, he’s not as experienced as Frimpong and likes to get forward frequently, leaving space for Eze to exploit.
