Arteta is just starting to come under a bit of pressure from some associated with Arsenal but a win against the Toon will put the Gunners back on top with Man City in FA Cup action.

But according to Newcastle boss Howe, Arteta has done just fine to get the Gunners challenging.

Eddie Howe says Mikel Arteta has done a ‘great job’ at Arsenal

Eddie Howe knows all about coming under pressure. This season has been a rocky one for Newcastle and Howe has struggled to get his team consistently performing.

As for Arsenal, they’re still in with a chance of two major trophies and Howe believes Arteta has done a good job at The Emirates.

“Of course, going to Arsenal is always a very difficult game. Mikel has done a great job,” Howe commented.

“Yes, it’s coming to the end of the season for them and they’re competing where they are, but we have everything to play for and we have to  really perform at our best level. We’re looking for a real collective effort from everybody to answer, most importantly, probably to ourselves on how good we think we are.”

Arsenal’s record against Newcastle United under Mikel Arteta

With Arsenal needing a win again, thankfully their record under Mikel Arteta against Newcastle is a good one.

In 15 matches in total, Arsenal have come out on top nine times, with just the single draw in the mix as Newcastle have won the other 5.

Arsenal have won eight of the 12 Premier League clashes while Arteta has been in charge.

There has been some controversial moments, including Gabriel’s injury time winner earlier this season and the game back in 2023, when Newcastle scored a controversial winner with the help of VAR.

Clearly, Arteta knows how to set his team up to beat Newcastle and he needs his team to perform more than ever today.
