Arsenal fans have heard the news that Chelsea and Enzo Maresca have parted ways ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash.

The Italian did a decent job at Stamford Bridge and helped them win two trophies. However, issues behind the scenes made it clear that they could not continue.

The managerial change at Chelsea could benefit Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final, but if recent history is anything to go by, it wouldn’t have made any difference.

The embarrassing Arsenal vs Chelsea stat as Enzo Maresca departs

Arsenal and Chelsea have had some great battles over the years.

When Roman Abramovich was the owner of the Blues, the Russian made them one of the best sides in the world, and they caused a lot of pain to the Gunners at times.

However, since Clearlake took over Chelsea, the London derby between the two sides has been very one-sided.

Including Maresca, the West Londoners have had four managers since Thomas Tuchel was sacked by Todd Boehly. Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino and Frank Lampard are the other three.

None of them managed to pick up a victory over Arsenal, which is embarrassing for a side whose fans wrongly claim that they are the best club in London.

The last time Chelsea secured a win over Mikel Arteta’s side was all the way back in August 2021.

Since then, the two sides have met eight times, and Arsenal have won five and drawn three of those fixtures.

Enzo Maresca wanted the Mikel Arteta treatment at Chelsea

Chelsea’s project since Clearlake took over has raised a lot of eyebrows.

The amount of money they have spent on players they don’t really need, while also selling a few valuable assets instead of keeping them, has made no sense.

BBC Sport have now revealed that Maresca didn’t really have a say on transfers, and he wanted to have an influence in that department, just like Arteta does at Arsenal.

However, the Blues hierarchy rejected his request, and that was one of the reasons why he decided to leave the club.
