Emile Smith Rowe is still a fan favourite at Arsenal.

The Englishman came through the ranks at the Arsenal academy and became a regular under Mikel Arteta in the first team in December 2020.

Smith Rowe helped lay the foundations for Arteta’s rebuild, and he is among the biggest reasons why Arsenal are in such a good position today.

Smith Rowe, an attacking midfielder himself, saw Odegaard in training every day during their time together at Arsenal.

The Englishman was very impressed with his former skipper, so much so that he has named him as the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League ahead of his own favourite player, Kevin De Bruyne.

When asked to name the best number 10 in the league, Smith Rowe told Sky Sports: “My ex-teammate, Martin Odegaard. He’s probably one of the best players I’ve played with, to be honest.

“Obviously, there’s KDB, he’s probably my favourite player in the Premier League, but, seeing someone every day, seeing how they live, how they work, day in, day out…

“How he (Odegaard) performs every week, man, it’s just crazy. He’s one of the best I’ve been around.”

Odegaard is so important to the way Arsenal play.

The Gunners often looked lost in attack when the Norwegian was out of action for about two months because of an ankle injury.

Arsenal saw a complete upturn in form once he returned, and they have threatened to score multiple goals in almost every game since.
