The summer transfer window is over, and what a window it was for Arsenal.
Indeed, the Gunners spent over £200m on new signings, bringing in some seriously big names.
Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal as the Gunners finally landed their number nine, while Martin Zubimendi signed for Arsenal in a very exciting deal.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Emmanuel Petit has been ranking some of the biggest signings of the summer, and he’s made an interesting claim about one of the Gunners’ summer additions.

Emmanuel Petit ranks Eberechi Eze signing over Florian Wirtz
Petit was asked to rank five of the biggest signings of the summer.
Interestingly, Petit put Florian Wirtz in fifth place, while he ranked Eberechi Eze ahead of the German.
Eze has been tipped for big things at Arsenal, and after shining in the Premier League for years with Crystal Palace, he’s as close to a sure-fire signing as you can get in this day and age.
Factor in that Wirtz has had a slow start to life at Liverpool and Eze was much cheaper, it’s easy to see why Petit ranked Eze ahead of Wirtz.
Eberechi Eze compared to Florian Wirtz
Eze and Wirtz are two of the most exciting signings of the summer, and it is interesting to compare the two statistically.
Last year, Wirtz was more impactful than Eze, but he was playing for a more ball-dominant team in a weaker league.
| Eberechi Eze | Florian Wirtz | |
| 34 | Games | 31 |
| 8 | Goals | 10 |
| 8 | Assists | 12 |
Of course, it’s way too early to cast any concrete judgements on who is the better signing as both players have barely played this season, and it’s also tough to compare the two last season due to the fact they were playing at different levels.
Eze and Wirtz are bound to be compared this season due to their similarities in terms of positioning, and Arsenal fans will be hoping the England international proves to be better than the German this term.
