Arsenal have finally confirmed the signing of Viktor Gyokeres to end their long-awaited search for a striker.

Mikel Arteta has been desperate for a natural number nine and now has his wish thanks to some tremendous work behind the scenes from Andrea Berta.

Kai Havertz has been excellent for Arsenal in the false nine role but the belief is that a clinical marksman up top would be the difference in getting over the line for the Premier League title.

Gyokeres comes with an outstanding record from his time in Sporting Lisbon and there is a real feeling around the Emirates that they have bagged one of Europe’s deadliest strikers.

Arsenal announce Viktor Gyokeres signing from Sporting Lisbon

Arsenal have been locked in negotiations with Sporting Lisbon for weeks and initially held interest in signing Benjamin Sesko.

However, Berta is a huge fan of Gyokeres and holds the belief that the Swedish striker is ready to deliver the goals required to fire Arsenal to the title.

The Gunners are believed to have paid an initial £55m fee and then a further £8m will be paid in various add-ons.

Gyokeres has signed a long-term contract at the Emirates and is set to emulate Thierry Henry by wearing the number 14 shirt.

Fans will be hoping the similarities between the players stretch to more than just the shirt number and Gyokeres can provide memories to last a lifetime.

After Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal now set to move for Eberechi Eze

Berta is not finished yet despite Gyokeres becoming the sixth signing of the summer so far. Arsenal are set to bid for Eberechi Eze.

Eze is desperate to join Arsenal and it is believed that the Gunners could be looking to use Reiss Nelson as part of a deal.

Crystal Palace are adamant that they want a deal reflective of Eze’s £68m release clause, whether that is straight cash or a fee plus Nelson.

If the Gunners could get that deal over the line, attentions would then turn to player sales and an attempt to balance the books and complete a dream summer transfer window for the club.
