Arsenal are set for a new challenge in the Premier League when Ruben Amorim joins Manchester United after the international break.

The Red Devils let go of Erik ten Hag in late October after a difficult start to the season, which had them in inconsistent form.

What that means for the Gunners is unclear but it could bring some huge challenges for Mikel Arteta and his side.

Arsenal take on Sporting CP in the Champions League – with the Portuguese side still looking for a new head coach – while Manchester United follow in early December.

It could have a huge impact on the north London outfit in a few of their competitions, with one of their former coaches even crossing enemy lines to move to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim announces Manchester United coaching staff including Paulo Barreira

Joining Amorim in the move to Manchester United are five other coaches, with Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira all joining the club.

The latter of those is a physical performance coach who was previously employed by Arsenal and Liverpool.

Barreira also featured in Saudi Arabia and the UAE before he made the move to Portugal, joining up with Amorim at Sporting.

The move to Man United continues the coach’s journey through some of the top teams in Europe, of which he has been at a few different clubs.

Barreira isn’t the only person in the backroom team to make a switch from the Emirates Stadium to Old Trafford.

Arsenal at the forefront of coaching and football

`Barreira is just one example of Arsenal coaches moving on to new challenges in the world of football and stamping their mark on it.

Jack Wilshere left for Norwich City as one of the latest to leave the Gunners behind following the plying of his trade at the club.

There are more in the Arsenal coaching ranks that could make a move as Carlos Cuesta has attracted interest from clubs within their first team setup.

The job of Nicolas Jover, Miguel Molina and Albert Stuivenberg could equally put them on the radar of other teams.

It remains to be seen how the clubs look to keep transforming their coaching ranks for the years ahead but its clear that they will need to keep evolving.
