Arsenal have been excellent in the transfer market in recent windows.
The Gunners often came under criticism during Arsene Wenger’s final years and Unai Emery’s time at the Emirates for the kind of players they brought in. Even Mikel Arteta was questioned for some of his early signings.
However, over the last few windows, Arsenal have got almost everything right, and Edu Gaspar deserves a lot of praise for the work he has done.
One player Arsenal signed not too long ago has impressed everyone at the club, so much so that the Gunners believe his transfer value has more than doubled in just a few months.
Fabrizio Romano shares what Arsenal think about David Raya’s transfer value
Arsenal signed David Raya for £27 million from Brentford in the summer following his successful loan spell at the Emirates in the 2023/24 season.
The Spaniard came under a lot of criticism early on in his Gunners career because he replaced fan favourite Aaron Ramsdale in the side.
However, Raya won over the Arsenal fans in the following months and ended the campaign with the Golden Glove award for keeping more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.
The Spain international has had an unbelievable start to this season as well, so much so that we think Raya is in line to win the Arsenal Player of the Season award.
Fabrizio Romano has now had his say on Raya, and he has revealed that Arsenal believe that the goalkeeper’s transfer value has more than doubled already.
He said on the Here We Go podcast: “He’s doing fantastic and Arsenal internally believe that this has been one of the best signings in recent years for them.
“It was not easy to change, to trust a different goalkeeper, also, because Ramsdale was an important goalkeeper for Arsenal, always doing very well. But they wanted to change the style, the approach, and they believe that signing David Raya on loan with an obligation to buy this summer was something around £27 million.
“For a goalkeeper like Raya, Arsenal believed that his value is already over £50 or probably £60 million. So it’s been a fantastic signing for Arsenal on the pitch, but they already believe that also in terms of value, in terms of mentality, what they did with David Raya is something really, really special.”

David Raya should be aiming to beat one key Premier League record
Raya proved last season that he is more than good enough to win the Golden Glove award, and we think he is the favourite to do it again this season.
That would be a great achievement, but we think the Spaniard should be aiming a bit higher.
Chelsea hold the Premier League record for least goals conceded in a campaign. Petr Cech let in just 15 goals in 38 games in the 2004/05 season.
Raya has conceded three goals in five games so far, two of which came against Manchester City. It won’t be easy to break that incredible Chelsea record – it’s a really tough ask.
However, if anyone can do it, we believe it’s Raya and this magnificent Arsenal defence.
