William Saliba is arguably Arsenal’s most important player.

The Frenchman had to wait three long years before he could make his Gunners debut. That period would’ve definitely been frustrating, but he came out of it stronger than anyone expected.

Since the start of the 2022/23 season, Saliba has been one of the first names on Arsenal’s team sheet. He is arguably the best defender in the Premier League now and perhaps even in Europe.

That, unsurprisingly, has led to interest from other clubs, and Fabrizio Romano has now revealed what he knows about Saliba’s future.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on William Saliba’s Arsenal future

If Saliba is ever on the market, we’re convinced that every top club in the world will try to sign him.

The Frenchman, in many people’s eyes, is already the best centre-back on the planet, and the scary thing is he’s still only 23 years old.

Saliba is guaranteed to become even better in the coming years, and there will definitely be a few transfer attempts from huge clubs at some point.

Reports have claimed that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain both have a strong interest in Saliba, which is worrying if you’re an Arsenal fan.

However, Romano has shared some positive news for Gooners.

The journalist has revealed that nothing is going on between Saliba and PSG, or any other club for that matter. The defender is happy at Arsenal and has held no talks with any side.

Romano said in his Daily Briefing: “Although William Saliba will always be appreciated because of his immense talent, there’s nothing in a rumour that Paris Saint-Germain could make a big offer for his services at this stage, to be fair.

“There has been no approach from PSG, no proposal, no talks. Saliba is a crucial player for Arsenal so I don’t think there could be anything for Saliba to even consider soon.

“He’s very happy at Arsenal and there’s nothing ongoing with any club – no idea where these PSG stories are coming from.”

Two things Arsenal should do to keep Saliba

Arsenal cannot afford to lose Saliba – there’s nobody else in world football who can do the job that he does.

The Frenchman is good on the ball, excellent in the air and he loves to defend. He rarely ever loses a one-on-one situation and is always reliable, even in difficult positions.

Arsenal have to make sure Saliba stays and to achieve that, they must do two things:

We don’t know what Edu Gaspar’s plan is, but he should start negotiations with Saliba and his agents as soon as possible. His new contract should be sorted before the end of this season.
