Arsenal have enjoyed a run of recent success over arch rivals Tottenham Hotspur both on and off the pitch.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won their last three Premier League encounters and finished above their neighbours in each of the last three seasons.

In the transfer market this summer, Arsenal have embarrassed Spurs with the signing of Noni Madueke after the 23-year-old came through the academy at White Hart Lane.

Declan Rice is being used to frustrate Spurs after their attempts to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton was thwarted by the Eagles asking for a fee similar to that paid for Rice.

Now, a former Spurs midfielder has just claimed that he should have signed for the red side of North London during his career.

Adel Taarabt wishes he had signed for Arsenal instead of Tottenham Hotspur

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Adel Taarabt has revealed that he wishes he joined Arsenal instead of their North London rivals.

Taarabt stated: “My first choice that I think was not good was not to sign for Tottenham, Tottenham is a good club, but at that time I had offers to go to Arsenal and it was a more French club with Arsene Wenger and a lot of French players.

“At Tottenham, I arrived in the dressing room with Robbie Keane and Berbatov, big characters. I followed Damien Comoli, he was at Arsenal, I should’ve gone to Arsenal, but suddenly he was at Tottenham and he brought me there.”

Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was a big fan of Taarabt and labelled him ‘fantastic’ as per West London Sport during their time at QPR together.

Taarabt made just 15 appearances for Spurs and failed to register a single goal or assist before making his name at Loftus Road with 75 goal contributions in 164 matches.

Eberechi Eze cannot make the same mistake as Adel Taarabt this summer

Arsenal want to sign Eberechi Eze this summer and are fighting against Tottenham for the England international’s signature.

Eze himself is said to prefer a move to the Emirates and should not make the same mistake as Taarabt given that Spurs have already added a similar player this summer.

Thomas Frank has signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham and still hopes to complete a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White.

The Gunners would love to add Eze to their creative options and the 27-year-old could play a big part in finally ending the club’s trophy drought.

Crystal Palace want his £68m release clause paid in full, therefore Andrea Berta is concentrating on player sales before any deal can be sanctioned for the player.
