Arsenal have had many world-class players over the years.

Thierry Henry is Arsenal’s greatest ever player. The legendary Frenchman was the best in the business during his time under Arsene Wenger, and he will forever be a hero to Gooners.

But, former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart loves another former Arsenal star, so much so that he rates him higher than Brazil icon Ronaldo Nazario.

Rafael van der Vaart thinks Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is better than Ronaldo

Arsenal signed Dennis Bergkamp from Inter Milan in 1995.

The legendary Dutchman didn’t have a great time in Italy, but everyone in the world knew at the time that he was a superstar.

Ian Wright claimed he ‘felt like a child’ when Arsenal signed Bergkamp – such was his greatness.

The attacker’s quality on the ball, passing, vision and ability to score fantastic goals made him one of the Premier League’s best-ever players.

Henry surpassed him when he came to Arsenal, but Van der Vaart believes Bergkamp is the one player who was better than the Brazilian Ronaldo and several other elite forwards.

In a video on Goal, the former Tottenham man was asked to pick between players in a knockout fashion until one winner emerged.

Bergkamp was Van der Vaart’s winner in the end, ahead of icons like Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao and Ronaldo among others.

Both Bergkamp and Ronaldo are greats of the game.

The Dutchman was always a joy to watch. Some of his touches and vision have never been replicated, and he will forever remain a hero to Arsenal fans.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, was a goal machine, and the numbers he produced despite all the injury issues he had are just incredible.

Ronaldo clearly had the better career, but Bergkamp gave many Dutch fans memories that they will never, ever forget.

That’s probably why Van der Vaart prefers the Arsenal legend over Ronaldo.
