Former Arsenal star who Mikel Arteta once asked for help from could return to the club after one thing just happened

Arsenal have enjoyed a successful rebuild under Mikel Arteta but are yet to achieve their ultimate goal of winning a major honour.

The Gunners sit 13 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool, and thus the chances of winning the English top flight this season are minimal.

However, Arsenal could still win the Champions League, with PSV Eindhoven awaiting the North Londoners in the round of 16.

At the end of the current campaign, Arteta is likely to initiate a meticulous assessment of where he and his team can make improvements ahead of next term, and this could involve making changes to his coaching staff.

Former Arsenal star Andrey Arshavin has completed his coaching badges

Retiring from football in 2018, former Arsenal winger Andrey Arshavin has embarked on a journey to becoming a coach.

Arshavin, who made 144 appearances for the Gunners between 2009 and 2013, announced that he’s completed his UEFA A License on Tuesday.

The A License is the second highest-level coaching qualification, behind the UEFA Pro License, that prospective coaches can earn in Europe.

It allows a coach to take charge of senior teams in top amateur leagues, or to act as an assistant coach at a professional club.

Arshavin is yet to commence his personal coaching career, but this qualification could now kick start his path in this profession.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Russian will attempt to secure his Pro License, but he’s officially available on the market as a coach, and Arteta could look to pounce in the summer.

Mikel Arteta could appoint Andrey Arshavin as a coach at Arsenal

Arshavin signed for Arsenal on deadline day in January 2009, and enjoyed a relatively fruitful spell in N5.

The Euro 2008 star developed a cult hero status at the Emirates after famously netting four goals at Anfield and for eliciting an amusing chant from the Gunners faithful.

Arshavin is the last Arsenal player to score four goals in a competitive match, but he could yet inspire a current player in Arteta’s squad to beat this record.

Arteta is said to have a good relationship with the 43-year-old, and thus, the Spaniard could look to hire him to his coaching staff now that he’s fully qualified.

According to the Daily Express, the Arsenal boss reached out to Arshavin for help regarding a transfer for Zenit St. Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun back in 2021.

The tactician could look to leverage Arshavin’s knowledge of and connections with the Russian market by employing his old friend.

With Arsenal in need of a fresh voice in the dressing room, Arshavin could be the man to provide that next season.
