Four Arsenal players are in their National Team squads for the final of Euro 2024, but not all of them are on the same side.
Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka are in the England squad, with the latter two starting every game of the tournament, whilst David Raya is in the Spain squad.
Raya and Ramsdale both representing Arsenal means that for the first time in history, two goalkeepers from the same club side are on the opposing teams in an International final.
Neither are set to start the final, and Ramsdale is yet to appear at the tournament. Raya impressed in Spain’s final group game against Georgia, but Athletic Bilbao star Unai Simon is the first choice.
The fact that there are Arsenal players in both teams means that there will definitely be one Euro 2024 winner returning to North London, and this is also the first time such a scenario has happened since the 2010 World Cup.
Arsenal players set to face each other in Euro 2024 final
Raya joined from Brentford last year to usurp Ramsdale in the pecking order, and there was plenty of scrutiny over both goalkeepers throughout the season after Mikel Arteta’s decision to bring the Spaniard in.
Both will face each other from the bench, but if the game goes to penalties, there is every chance Raya is brought on given his heroic display in the Champions League against Porto.
Rice and Saka will start the game, and if Raya comes on for a shootout, he will likely have to face Saka from the spot, having watched the winger score on several occasions for Arsenal.
Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie faced each other in 2010 World Cup final

The only other time Arsenal players have faced each other in an International final was in the 2010 World Cup, as Spain and Cesc Fabregas faced The Netherlands and Robin van Persie.
Both were Arsenal’s key stars at the time under Arsene Wenger, and both would eventually captain the club before leaving in controversial circumstances.
Spain won that final 1-0, with Andres Iniesta scoring an extra-time winner, which was assisted by Fabregas. The midfielder came on as a substitute in extra time, replacing Xabi Alonso, and he provided the goal shortly after.
Van Persie was the first of many players to receive a yellow card in what was a heated affair, and the two returned to London in very contrasting moods.
