Gabriel Magalhaes is a big fan of Thierry Henry, and the Arsenal defender has been speaking about the former Gunners’ goal against Tottenham back in 2002.

Gabriel is a massive fan of the North London derby, so he will be especially gutted that he is set to miss the weekend’s clash.

During Brazil’s 2-0 win over Senegal, Gabriel suffered a groin injury, meaning that he is now set to miss over a month of action.

Ahead of Sunday’s North London derby, the Brazilian international has been speaking about the fixture and some of the most iconic moments.

Gabriel Magalhaes hails Thierry Henry’s goal against Tottenham

Gabriel Magalhaes has admitted that he loved Thierry Henry’s goal against Tottenham in 2002 when he celebrated right in front of their supporters.

The Brazilian spoke about the quality of the run to beat several Spurs defenders and then the passion which he showed in his celebration.

The Arsenal legend ran the length of the pitch to knee slide in front of the away end and produce one of the most iconic images in the club’s history.

Speaking about Henry’s goal and celebration, Gabriel told the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “Yeah, I have seen this. He’s a machine. What a goal!

“Look at the passion. It’s a derby, so your motivation needs to be at the highest level. So I think when he scores, you can see the passion in his celebration.”

Henry loved playing in the derby and had a great record against Spurs, winning seven and scoring five goals in 11 matches.

Meanwhile, Gabriel is the same, having won seven of his ten meetings against the Gunners’ bitter rivals, whilst claiming the Man of the Match award in each of the last three.

Henry will be in attendance at the North London derby this weekend and is predicting that Arteta’s team will beat Spurs.

Gabriel Magalhaes on embarrassing Cristian Romero in the North London derby

Gabriel loved his goal away at Tottenham last season, which won Arsenal the game 1-0 as he beat Cristian Romero to a header late on.

“I was thinking Bukayo is going to do a cross, and I watched the position of Romero; he was marking me from each side,” said Gabriel.

“I tried to go in behind him, and just before I jumped, I pushed him a little bit, because I know if I go in front of him, he’s going to block me, and I’m not ready to jump.

“If you see the movement, I do one movement, then another, and he doesn’t look at me, his body is not ready for me.”
