Arsenal had a very busy summer transfer window in 2025.

In order to spend £253m on new signings, Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal chiefs had to sanction a lot of exits.

The Gunners allowed 12 first-teamers to depart the Emirates Stadium, including the likes of Jakub Kiwior, Jorginho and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Gabriel Martinelli says Kieran Tierney is ‘one of the best guys’ in football

After six years at the club, Arsenal decided to let Kieran Tierney depart on a free transfer last summer window.

Tierney only made two league starts in his final season at the Gunners, so it was best for both parties to move on.

The Scotland international returned to his boyhood club Celtic and was a key part in their domestic double last term, netting six goals and laying on 12 assists.

Speaking to Hayters TV, Martinelli has been speaking about his former Arsenal teammate and admits he’s ‘one of the best guys’ he’s met in football.

“He’s my guy,” Martinelli states.

“He’s one of the best guys I’ve met in football. He’s so kind and so humble as well. So rapid!

“We used to joke who was the quickest in the sessions, in my opinion it was always him… I’m always cheering for him.”

Tierney was labelled a ‘legend’ by Mikel Merino back in November, so clearly, he was a very well-liked member of the squad.

Arteta places great importance on recruiting good characters, not just talented players, and Tierney was no better example of that.
