Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer both agree that Martin Odegaard is back to his best for Arsenal after a string of good performances.

The Gunners captain has been influential in recent weeks in Arsenal’s incredible winning streak, with Odegaard scoring and assisting on the weekend against Burnley.

Whilst the 25-year-old playmaker’s goalscoring numbers are down this year, Odegaard has offset that by bumping up his assist numbers in a big way this season in Mikel Arteta’s new Arsenal system.

And speaking on The Rest of Football, pundits Lineker and Shearer were full of praise for Odegaard, with the pair also waxing lyrical about Bukayo Saka, who has also returned to form.

Indeed, the Norwegian midfielder will be key in the coming weeks in Arsenal’s bid for the Premier League title, and Odegaard’s return to form had come at an ideal time for the Gunners.

Lineker said when discussing the players Arsenal have now seen return to form in recent weeks: “Saka is back to his best, though I don’t think he’s actually been poor.

“The same you can say for Odegaard, who has not quite had the numbers he had last season but was brilliant against Burnley,” with Shearer adding on the Arsenal captain: “He’s brilliant.”

Arsenal are in the best form they have hit all season, with the Gunners hitting their peak right before the restart of their UEFA Champions League campaign against FC Porto in the knockout stages.

Whilst the Premier League title might be out of reach with Manchester City and Liverpool also flying, European glory could be a real goal for Arsenal this season, and Odegaard can be key.

The midfielder has already impressed in the Champions League this season, with the captain likely eager to get back going in Europe with Arsenal this week.
