Arsenal star Martin Odegaard has hit an incredible run of form, and was outstanding again in today’s 5-0 victory over Burnley.

The 25-year-old scored a wonderful opening goal in the early stages of the game, before assisting Bukayo Saka’s second strike in what was a sensational Arsenal display at Turf Moor.

Odegaard is creating chances at a rate higher than anyone in the Arsenal squad, and the team have now set a new record as the Gunners have won five games in a row at the start of a calendar year for the first time.

The Arsenal captain has now earned praise from his manager Mikel Arteta, who has highlighted that he has hit his top form at the perfect time.

Mikel Arteta praises Martin Odegaard after Burnley victory

Speaking after the win over Burnley, Arteta praised Odegaard for the form he has shown in recent weeks.

“I think confidence-wise he’s in a really good moment,” Arteta stated.

“Physically as well the way he’s applied himself defending and attacking.

“The connection and the movement that he gives us on that right-hand side it’s really good. He’s hitting form.”

Odegaard was impacting games well, but without any output to show for it at the start of Arsenal’s incredible run, and was brilliant against Liverpool despite not scoring or assisting.

However, the West Ham and Burnley wins have seen him come to life in front of goal. He provided two assists at the London Stadium, whilst notching up a goal and assist today.

Many will argue that Odegaard is operating at a world-class level right now, and it would be tough to single out a Premier League player who has outperformed him in the last month.

The Arsenal captain has led by example with his pressing, and he, alongside Declan Rice, has been almost untouchable in midfield as opposition defences cannot cope with his skill on the ball.

He has been Arsenal’s best player in the last two games, and he is performing at a level which could carry Arsenal into a serious title charge.

He is also leading Europe for chances created from open play, and with Arsenal set to return to Champions League action this week, he will hope that his side can continue their fine form and secure a strong victory in the first leg of their knockout tie against Porto.
