Arsenal have impressed a lot of people this season.
The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table after nine fixtures, and they have won every single game in the Champions League and Carabao Cup so far.
Mikel Arteta’s men really look unstoppable, despite the fact that they have key attackers like Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus out injured.
That is really impressive, but what’s even better is their defensive record. Gary Lineker, for one, is blown away.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 9 | 7 | 1 | 1 | 16 | 3 | 13 | 22 |
Gary Lineker is ‘shocked’ after hearing one crazy stat about Arsenal
Arsenal’s defending has been outstanding this season.
The Gunners have conceded just three goals in 14 games in all competitions. Just one of those three strikes came from open play.
Furthermore, the North Londoners are barely allowing teams to have shots at their goal in the Premier League.
Lineker knows exactly how good Arteta’s men are at the back, but one stat still shocked him.
Arsenal won every game they played in October without letting in a single goal. No other club in the history of the English top-flight has done that before.
Speaking about that record, Lineker said on the Rest is Football podcast: “Arsenal actually became the first English side in top-flight history to win six games in a month without conceding a goal.
“Top-flight history! I’m shocked at that.”
How many goals will Arsenal concede in 2025/26 if they continue at the same rate?
Three goals conceded in nine Premier League games is a terrific record, and it is no surprise that Arsenal are on top of the table.
The Gunners know that they still have a long way to go, which is why they need to continue doing what they have done so far.
If they do, Arsenal will not only win the Premier League, but they will also break Chelsea’s record for the fewest goals conceded in a season.
The Blues let in 15 in the 2004/05 campaign, but if Arsenal continue conceding at the same rate, they will end up with just 12.67 goals scored against them.
That would be an incredible achievement, one that may never be broken.
