Arsenal are on track to break several records in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners have fared incredibly well over the last three campaigns, but they’ve come second-best every time.

The aim for Mikel Arteta will be to win the Premier League this term, and Arsenal are currently on top of the table.

All eyes will be on the big prize, but the North Londoners could also smash a long-standing Premier League record if things go their way.

Arsenal could break a Premier League record set by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea in 2005

Jose Mourinho is one of the greatest managers in the history of the Premier League.

The self-proclaimed Special One won the Premier League title in each of his first two seasons at Chelsea, and he added another one in his second spell at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho hasn’t had much success in recent years, but there are a few records he still holds that will be very difficult to beat.

One such record was set in 2005 – 20 years ago – when Mourinho’s Chelsea conceded just 15 goals in the entire season. No team has let in fewer over the years.

And if they manage to do it, they are almost guaranteed to win the Premier League title.

Three reasons why Arsenal could break Chelsea’s defensive record

Conceding just 15 goals in 38 Premier League games is a remarkable achievement, and Mourinho’s Chelsea deserve immense praise for that.

However, Arsenal have what it takes to break that record – here are three reasons why:

It won’t be easy, but if anyone can beat Chelsea’s defensive record, it’s this Arsenal side under Arteta.
