Gary Lineker is a big fan of what one player is doing at Arsenal this season.
Lineker believes Arsenal can win the Premier League, with his belief strengthened after matchday ten.
The Gunners continued their winning streak with a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, keeping a fourth consecutive Premier League clean sheet.
It’s incredibly hard for teams to even get close to Arsenal right now, which is credit to the defence Mikel Arteta has built.
Gabriel Magalhaes was instrumental against Burnley, but it was another member of the back four who left Lineker spellbound, and that was Jurrien Timber.

Gary Lineker praises Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber
Gary Neville thinks Timber is one of the world’s best in his position, which is a claim Lineker could presumably get behind.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast after the action on matchday ten, Lineker singled out Timber when discussing Arsenal’s squad depth.
“They’ve got incredible depth at the moment. But Jurrien Timber, I think he’s a truly exceptional footballer,” the pundit said.
Lineker added, “They’ve got so many of them at the moment.”
Timber has been tremendous for club and country this season, clearly thriving in the role Arteta has carved out for him at right-back.
The Dutchman is standing out as one of Arsenal’s best players right now, but as Lineker stressed, the Gunners have so many assets who are at that level this season.
Timber’s match statistics against Burnley – How he impressed Lineker
It’s no surprise to hear the Dutchman generate discussion after the win over Burnley.
On Match of the Day after Arsenal’s victory, Alan Shearer waxed lyrical about Timber and Riccardo Calafiori, praising the impact they’re quietly having on Arteta’s squad.
Jurrien Timber vs Burnley
51 touches
2 shots
87% pass completion
2 clearances
3 recoveries
2 ground duels won
Against Burnley, Timber’s match numbers weren’t anything particularly extraordinary, but they did convey the balance the 2023 signing offers on the right side of defence.
Not only was the 24-year-old assured defensively, but he managed to have an impact going forward, too, firing two shots on goal and stretching Burnley by maintaining a presence in the final third.
Arsenal are so fortunate to have a player of Timber’s quality right now, with the defender going from strength to strength as the weeks pass.
