Gary Lineker has revealed that he’s starting to change his mind on the outcome of the Premier League title race between Arsenal and Liverpool this season.

Arsenal beat West Ham on Saturday afternoon to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches, while Liverpool lost to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Manchester City remain in the picture after easing past Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

These results see the Gunners head into the international break at the summit of the English top flight, one point ahead of Liverpool.

Gary Lineker is ‘swaying towards’ Arsenal winning the Premier League

Just over two weeks ago, Mikel Arteta was hit with widespread criticism for his approach at home against Manchester City.

This followed a Liverpool clash where the Spaniard was also lamented for being overly conservative, and the mood around N5 was subsequently somewhat sombre.

Fast forward a fortnight, and the Gunners are now being tipped by many to lift the Premier League title, having won their last four matches across all competitions.

Chris Sutton believes Arsenal will win the title, while Ally McCoist has also changed his mind on the outcome of the race, backing Arteta’s side to triumph.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Gary Lineker reciprocated these views, revealing that he’s also now leaning towards Arsenal.

“Who’s going to win the Premier League this season?” presenter Andy Golstein asked.

“I thought Liverpool at the start of the season,” Lineker replied.

“Now I’m swaying towards Arsenal. I think it’ll be one of them.”

How many points will win the Premier League title this season?

Arsenal’s return of 16 points from their first seven games puts them on course for an 87-point season.

This would have beaten Liverpool to the title last term, although in many recent campaigns it would not be sufficient to usurp Manchester City for the piece of silverware.

This year, with many of the title challengers showing signs of fragility already, it would be surprising if any of them are able to eclipse 90 points.

It’s likely that the Merseysiders’ return of 84 points last season will be enough again this time around, although the way Arsenal are playing at the moment, they may comfortably better this.
