Mikel Arteta has made a number of excellent signings as the manager of Arsenal.

A lot is said about how much money the Gunners have spent under the Spaniard, but people need to talk about the quality of players that the Premier League leaders have signed as well.

The likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Martin Zubimendi have all been unbelievable additions to the squad over the years.

Gary Lineker has now hailed another signing Arsenal made recently – Cristhian Mosquera.

Arsenal signed Mosquera from Valencia in the summer transfer window.

Nobody really expected the Spaniard to get a lot of minutes this season, but an injury to William Saliba forced Mikel Arteta to use Mosquera at Anfield.

The 21-year-old was absolutely outstanding in that game, and he has since produced several more incredible performances.

The latest of those came against Inter Milan in the Champions League. Mosquera dealt with Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram without any trouble.

Lineker, who has faced some legendary defenders in his career, was beyond impressed with Mosquera’s performance and heaped praise on him.

He said on the Rest is Football podcast: “Their recruitment has been really good of late, hasn’t it?

“Even someone like Mosquera. He’s only 21. He only cost £13 million, and he looks like a really good player, doesn’t he?”

Alan Shearer replied: “Yeah, he’s not a bad deputy, is he, to come in for Saliba or Gabriel or whoever is not going to be playing.”

Cristhian Mosquera could be Arsenal’s best bargain under Mikel Arteta

If we had to choose who Arsenal’s best bargain signing under Arteta has been, we would probably pick Gabriel.

The Brazilian cost just £27 million, including add-ons, and he has developed into the best centre-back in the world right now.

Mosquera cost about half that figure, and he has looked incredible. He has all the characteristics to become one of the best centre-halves in world football in the coming years.

If Arsenal hold on to him until then, we think he will be viewed as the best bargain signing in Arteta’s tenure as the Gunners boss.
