Gary Lineker has just hailed the performance of Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly, who produced a brilliant performance in the Champions League final.

Mikel Arteta’s team were beaten on penalties by PSG in the Champions League final as Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes both missed from 12 yards.

Arsenal took the lead through Kai Havertz after just six minutes; however, that goal was cancelled out after Ousmane Dembele scored from the penalty spot.

Overall, most Arsenal players left the pitch at the Puskas Arena with their heads held high, and Lineker was particularly impressed by Lewis-Skelly.

Gary Lineker has just admitted that he was so impressed by the performance of Myles Lewis-Skelly in the Champions League final.

The 19-year-old was given the chance to start in the Champions League final alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in midfield.

The former England international claims that the teenager’s maturity in the match was so impressive, as he came up against the likes of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and Joao Neves.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Lineker said: “I thought his performance was exceptional. A young teenager. I thought he did really well.

Now that you’ve all had time to reflect, why did Arsenal lose the Champions League final?

“I mean, he’s a teenager, but he’s very mature in terms of his performing.”

Against PSG, the young midfielder won one tackle, made one interception, one recovery and won three duels.

Lewis-Skelly has been like a new addition for Arsenal over the last month or so, bringing a new lease of life into the team.

Next season, Lewis-Skelly must be a starter for Arsenal, especially with the Gunners hoping to add to their options in the middle of the park.

The North London club could now save themselves millions by trusting in the Hale End talent, with Arteta making him a key player.
