Arsenal have found form at the right time.

After a few games where they looked shaky, Mikel Arteta’s men look back to their best and have now won back-to-back games against Fulham and Atletico Madrid.

That upturn in form has coincided with the incredible form of two players – Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bukayo Saka.

Paul Merson has now heaped praise on the duo.

👀 TRUE or FALSE: Mikel Arteta should NOT use Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back again…

Paul Merson says Myles Lewis-Skelly looks like a new signing for Arsenal along with Bukayo Saka

Lewis-Skelly has stepped up for Arsenal at the perfect time.

The teenager had barely played this season until last week after falling behind Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie in the pecking order at left-back.

Arsenal fans had been calling for Lewis-Skelly to get minutes in midfield, but Arteta just didn’t seem keen on that idea.

However, something changed when the Premier League leaders took on Fulham last weekend, and the teenager got his long-awaited chance.

Lewis-Skelly, hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Arteta, was arguably the best player on the pitch, and his performance in the middle of the park earned him another start in that position – in the semi-finals of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid.

Merson has been amazed by the Arsenal academy graduate, along with Saka, and has claimed that they are like new signings for the Gunners.

He wrote on Sportskeeda: “Bukayo Saka looks fresh, Myles Lewis-Skelly has been incredible in the last couple of games.

“The thing is, Lewis-Skelly hasn’t played 50 or 60 games like Declan Rice or Martin Zubimendi. He provides fresh legs in midfield at a crucial stage of the season.

“Both Saka and Lewis-Skelly have been like new signings for Arsenal in this final run-in for the title.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s future is in midfield

Lewis-Skelly has always been a midfielder.

The teenager was educated in the middle of the park when he was coming through the ranks at Arsenal, but he broke into the first team and was amazing there.

However, Lewis-Skelly’s performances whenever he has played this season have shown that he is far better in central areas, and that is where his future should lie.

Andrea Berta is looking for a new midfielder this summer, and we think Lewis-Skelly could help him save millions after stepping up to the plate recently.
