The Premier League title race has come alive now as the gap between Arsenal and Manchester City is just two points.

Before their win against Wolves, the Gunners dropped points in three of their previous five games in the Premier League. That included a defeat against Aston Villa.

Those displays have increased fear among the fans that their title dreams could collapse, but Opta’s supercomputer has claimed that Arsenal are still the favourites to win the competition.

Now, Gary Neville has had his say.

What decides the 2025/26 Premier League, Arsenal’s defence or Man City’s attack?

Gary Neville explains why Arsenal will still win the Premier League title

The Premier League title race is definitely between Arsenal and Manchester City now.

Liverpool are 10 points behind the Gunners already, which is just too big a gap to overcome in the second half of the season. Chelsea are eight behind, but they are not good enough either.

With the gap down to just two points, Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola will battle it out again, but it was the latter who won it in consecutive seasons when these two sides went head-to-head for the title in 2022/23 and 2023/24.

After recent dropped points and the fortunate win against Wolves, many have started to doubt Arsenal, and Neville understands why Manchester City are being backed now.

However, he still feels it will be Arsenal who will win it this term.

Neville said on his podcast on Sky Sports: “If you’re going to win your first Premier League title, it’s not going to be handed to you on a plate. This has to be Arsenal’s year. I’m absolutely convinced of that.

“There’s nothing that’s going to let me let them off the hook. They’ve got an incredible squad. They’ve got stability. I think they’re a better team than Manchester City, and they proved that in the first few months of the season.

“But City are dangerous because they’ve got a manager who is a prolific winner, they’ve got a striker who is absolutely world-class. So, they’ve got really dangerous characteristics, talent and potential to go and cause upsets.

“But I still think it’ll be Arsenal’s.”

Arsenal are about to receive a big boost to help their Premier League title hopes

Arsenal deserve a lot of praise for leading the Premier League and Champions League tables.

The Gunners have had so many injuries already. Almost every other club in the world would’ve crumbled if they had as many issues.

That makes their current position all the more impressive, and in what will be a huge boost, many of their key players are either already back or are closing in on their comebacks.

Kai Havertz is expected to return in the coming games, while Gabriel Magalhaes should be back in the next few weeks as well.

Adding those two names to the players Arsenal already have available after recent injuries could give them the push they need to become Premier League champions.
