Arsenal have scored many iconic goals over the years.

The Gunners were renowned for the beautiful football they played under Arsene Wenger, and that led to many incredible strikes.

Dennis Bergkamp’s goal against Newcastle is arguably the best in Premier League history, while Thierry Henry’s stunning solo strikes against Liverpool and Tottenham deserve immense praise as well.

Gary Neville has witnessed many great Arsenal goals – when he was a player and later as a pundit – and he has now showered praise on one – Olivier Giroud’s strike against Crystal Palace.

Guess who: There’s one former Arsenal player clearly missing from Olivier Giroud’s dream XI, who is it?

Gary Neville says Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick Arsenal goal is the best he has ever seen live

Giroud always divided opinion during his time at Arsenal.

The Frenchman joined the Gunners in the summer of 2012, and he had to fill the big boots left by Robin van Persie after he moved to Manchester United.

Giroud was nowhere near the Dutchman’s level, but he still managed to score a few important goals for Wenger’s side.

The best of them all has to be his strike against Crystal Palace.

Alexis Sanchez crossed the ball into the box for Giroud, but it was a bit behind him. He had to improvise and pulled off the most incredible scorpion kick.

On the Overlap’s social channels, Neville was asked to name the best goal he had ever seen live, and he chose that one from the former Arsenal striker.

He said: “Olivier Giroud (for) Arsenal against someone, and he literally (tries to imitate it)… what’s it called? It was like a scorpion kick or something. Unbelievable!”

That goal won the Puskas Award in 2017.

Is Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick the greatest-ever goal scored by an Arsenal player? If not, which is?

The best goal Ian Wright ever saw was scored against Arsenal

Ian Wright scored some incredible goals for Arsenal back in the day, but he witnessed quite a few against the Gunners as well.

Like Neville, the legendary Englishman was asked to name the greatest goal he has ever seen live.

Wright chose Ryan Giggs’ incredible solo goal for Manchester United in the semi-finals of the 1999 FA Cup.

“Giggsy’s semi-final FA Cup, I think. I was there at that game,” Wright said. Roy Keane, who was sent off in that game, agreed.

That goal knocked Arsenal out of the competition in extra time.
