Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang featured on Arsenal’s official Twitch stream yesterday to answer a few of the fans’ questions.

The Gabon star is slowly getting back to his best after what has been a poor season for him. Now that he’s scoring regularly again, Auba’s smile is back and he was hilarious as ever in the Q&A yesterday.

The Arsenal skipper was asked about the fastest player in the squad. Many people would’ve instantly assumed that it was Auba himself, but the former Dortmund man has revealed that there is one player who is statistically quicker than him.

He said: “I would say, Kieran Tierney. He asked me to do a race against him. The stats are talking for him, saying that he is maybe quicker than me.”

That’s a surprise

We all know Tierney is quick but to learn that he is quicker than Auba – widely viewed as one of the fastest players in the world – really is a surprise.

The Scotsman has been one of our best players this season. Even when Arsenal were going through a terrible run in November and December, he was the one player who always stood out.

Tierney’s absence for a few weeks in January and early February showed just how much we rely on him. He is a hugely important part of Mikel Arteta’s system, and when he doesn’t play, things just aren’t right.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Tierney can stay fit until the end of the campaign. Both him and Aubameyang will have to be at their best for us to finish the season on a high.

Once the season is done, they can have their race and the winner can hold the bragging rights for at least a year.
