Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was quizzed about his management of Kieran Tierney amid his regular injury issues.
The Scotsman has had a difficult time with injuries at Arsenal. Unai Emery signed him at the start of last season and Tierney came in with a problem. He recovered from that, but a shoulder injury pushed him to the sidelines soon after. He is now struggling with a calf issue and he has missed our last four games as a result.
The 23-year-old has been one of out best players this season. He has been an integral part of Arteta’s system, and the Arsenal boss has revealed why he will not be risked until he is fully fit.

Arteta: Tierney really pushes himself, even in training
He said: “it’s a different injury in this case. Kieran is a player that really pushes himself and he has to be able to perform physically at his best because he cannot help himself.
“Even in training, he can’t help himself. We are trying to manage him in the best possible way and find every possibility to give him the best chance to be fit as soon as possible, and we are here to support him as much as we can.”
Tierney’s all or nothing attitude is exactly why he is so adored by the fans. He gives his absolute best every single game, and if Arteta’s words are anything to go by, his behavior in training is no different.

Tierney’s still not fully fit
Arteta revealed after the game at Wolves that Tierney wasn’t at all close to returning to the squad. There is no update just yet, but there is a feeling that the game against Aston Villa might come a bit too early for him.
Arsenal should manage Tierney very carefully. Rushing him back when he isn’t fully ready would be disastrous. Arteta learnt that the hard way with Thomas Partey back in December, and he shouldn’t repeat the same mistake again.
Tierney should be eased back in considering the number of fixtures we still have. The Europa League is set to return later this month as well, and the Scotsman’s presence will be integral for us as we aim to lift that trophy at the end of the season.
