Arsenal star Ben White caused controversy when he rejected a call-up to the England squad ahead of Euro 2024, after a fallout with their coaching staff.
Gareth Southgate caused a storm when he revealed that the Arsenal defender had refused his invitation to return to the squad, after going home midway through the 2022 World Cup.
It later emerged that White had fallen out with England assistant coach Steve Holland, with Southgate’s staff member treating him badly behind the scenes and questioning his professionalism.
White then missed Euro 2024, which saw England reach the final, and Kyle Walker delivered poor performances at right-back. With Harry Maguire also injured at centre-back, it was likely that White could have started for the England team.
Southgate and Holland have now left the England setup, and this could now offer a way back into the National Team for White.
Ben White could return to England squad after Steve Holland departure
It has now been reported by The Daily Star that White could make a u-turn on his previous decision to refuse an England call-up.
It is claimed that White is “prepared” to return to the England squad if called up, and he is open to returning to the National Team setup after his previous refusal.
It is not yet decided who will replace Southgate as manager, but former Brighton boss Graham Potter is one of the names strongly linked with the vacant role.
Ben White could thrive for England after excelling at Arsenal

White has performed superbly for Arsenal both at centre-back and right-back for the last three seasons, and he would be a huge asset for any England manager.
The 26-year-old would likely be delighted if Potter takes over the England team, having worked with him at Brighton before.
White could replace Walker at right-back, or at right centre-back in a three, and link up with Bukayo Saka on the right side, to replicate their partnership for Arsenal.
Based on performances at club level, White would be one of England’s best defenders, and a better environment in the England camp under new management could facilitate a surprise return for the Arsenal star.
