The mood in the Arsenal dressing room after losing 2-1 to Manchester City was very much one of defiance, and that the Premier League race is not yet over.
Following the full-time whistle on Sunday, Declan Rice made it clear the title race is not over despite the crushing defeat.
Is Declan Rice right or is the Premier League title race DONE?
But inside the Arsenal dressing room after the game, the mood very much reflected Rice’s rally cry, and that the Gunners are ready to keep fighting.
Manchester City have the chance to move to the top of the Premier League table with a win over Burnley, but there are still five games to go.
Arsenal’s dressing room was not devastated after the Man City defeat
The mood inside Arsenal’s dressing room was not one of defeat in the Premier League title race following their loss at Man City, according to Miguel Delaney.
Mikel Arteta’s team produced a really encouraging display at the Etihad and will feel unfortunate not to have come away with at least a point.
For the first time in a while, the Gunners played with real intent and tried to go toe-to-toe with the eight-time Premier League champions.
They came up just short on the day, but in terms of the overall landscape in the title race, there is a strong sense that it is not over yet.
Delaney told The Independent: “What’s more, the mood in the Arsenal dressing room isn’t as devastated as perception would have it.”
🤔 TRUE or FALSE: Martin Odegaard must START every Arsenal game after his display vs Man City?
Odegaard is ‘highly respected’ behind the scenes at Arsenal despite many question marks being raised over his captaincy.
But it is clear that he is very much one of the key leaders in this Arsenal dressing room, and his reaction after the defeat highlighted that.
“A tone was set by Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard afterwards. They very much feel ‘this isn’t done’,” added the journalist.
Arsenal fans will point out that they have heard a lot of talk this season and will now want to see action on the pitch.
Next up for the Gunners is Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium, in what could well determine their title chances.
