Though the 2024/25 season has not ended as desired for Arsenal, there remains some excitement around the club.

For the third consecutive season, Mikel Arteta’s side missed out on the Premier League title and failed to win any silverware.

The story seems deflating from the outside, but the Gunners are more than aware of the battles they’ve had to combat along the way.

Arsenal’s injury record continues to be disastrous, as all signs point to the summer transfer window being a critical piece of pushing Arteta’s project even closer to trophies.

Arsenal already feel excited about Andrea Berta’s hire

Andrea Berta was hired to replace Edu Gaspar, who surprisingly left the club in November.

Hindsight is beginning to show that Edu’s shock departure was actually a blessing in disguise, as Berta’s arrival has given the club confidence ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window

Ahead of what is proposed to be a big summer for the Gunners, journalist Charles Watts lifted the lid on the feel around Arsenal regarding Berta’s appointment.

Writing for Caught Offside, Watts shared that Arsenal hired Berta due to their understanding that he would be a ‘difference maker’ and a figure who could deliver the Gunners’ ‘big expectations’ about the market.

Most prominently, it’s understood that Arsenal view Berta as a businessman capable of pulling off deals that may not have been delivered in the past under Edu.

Watts shared that Arsenal’s hierarchy is ‘delighted’ and ‘very excited’ about the Italian’s arrival ahead of what is thought to be a ‘significant summer’ in N5.

Berta’s work at Atletico Madrid sees him regarded as a big fish in Europe’s transfer pool, with his availability and Arsenal’s vacancy crossing at the optimum time.

Mikel Arteta understands the importance of big signings at Arsenal

The arrival of Berta is not only a positive for fans and the Kroenkes, but of course, Arteta.

Pressure is building on Arteta from outside sources, as the Spaniard desperately attempts to feed his project with silverware.

Watts shared the Arsenal manager’s view ahead of the summer transfer window, insisting that the boss ‘knows’ that another poor performance in the market ‘can’t happen again’.

Edu and Arteta failed in the 2024 summer window and again in January, decisions and restrictions that ultimately defined Arsenal’s season.

Once the disappointment of the 2024/25 calendar eases off, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel appearing, and that’s what Berta is capable of doing in the transfer market.
