With the 2024/25 Premier League season drawing towards a close, attention will very quickly shift to the summer transfer window.
Sporting director Andrea Berta will be tasked with making plenty of changes, as Arsenal target a centre-forward, a winger, a midfielder and a backup goalkeeper heading into the window.
A flurry of exits could be on the cards too, with Mikel Arteta facing the possibility of a much-changed squad heading into next season.
With it being such an important transfer window, here’s a look at the summer transfer window rules every Arsenal fan should know.

When does the 2025 summer transfer window open?
The summer transfer window for 2025 actually has two different opening dates, due to a slight change in the rules.
Due to the Club World Cup, there will be a registration period opening from Sunday, 1 June, before it closes nine days later.
The official opening of the full transfer window then commences on Monday, 16 June, with Arsenal able to add new players to the squad.
When does the 2025 summer transfer window close?
The first registration period for the summer 2025 transfer window closes on Tuesday, 10 June, before it reopens again six days later.
Once the full transfer window is open in mid-June, it won’t close again for another three months.
Transfer deadline day for summer 2025 is pencilled in for Tuesday, 1 September.

Premier League squad registration and homegrown player status
The Premier League rules state that each squad must register a maximum of a 25-man squad for the season, which includes different decisions on homegrown status.
Of the 25 players, no more than 17 can be those who do not fulfil the homegrown status within the league’s registration.
As it stands, this is how the Arsenal squad looks heading into the summer, excluding those out of contract:
- William Saliba*
- Ben White*
- Bukayo Saka*
- Gabriel Martinelli*
- David Raya*
- Declan Rice*
- Myles Lewis-Skelly*
- Ethan Nwaneri*
- Martin Odegaard
- Gabriel Magalhaes
- Gabriel Jesus
- Jurrien Timber
- Jakub Kiwior
- Oleksandr Zinchenko
- Takehiro Tomiyasu
- Leandro Trossard
- Mikel Merino
- Kai Havertz
- Riccardo Calafiori
Those with an asterisk count as homegrown, with the squad only featuring 11 of those not fitting that criteria.
It means Arsenal could sign six more players without that homegrown status in the summer.
