Mikel Arteta appears to be open to allowing players to leave Arsenal in January, depending on their situations.
The Arsenal boss confirmed in his latest press conference that the North London club will be assessing potential arrivals at the Emirates Stadium.
Imagine this: You are Andrea Berta, Arsenal have given you £50m to spend in January, where is that money going? 👀
Arsenal’s squad is already quite large, but given the number of injuries the team has been picking up, moves for new players cannot be ruled out.
Meanwhile, outings are more than possible, with several players having strong chances to leave N5 during the winter window.
Mikel Arteta is open to releasing Arsenal players in January
Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is open to allowing players to leave Arsenal in January, despite the team losing several key players to injury.
Andrea Berta will be the man tasked with sorting each player’s situation, but should any opportunities arise, the Gunners will consider moving players on.
When asked about possible departures in January, Arteta told Arsenal.com: “Again, we assess every situation.
“I leave that much more to Andrea [Berta] to understand what’s happening in the market and then the individual players, obviously. We have to assess where we are with each of them and get the best situation.”
Should Arsenal send Ethan Nwaneri out on loan in January?
One of the obvious candidates who could leave Arsenal next month is Ethan Nwaneri, who has been so short of opportunities this season.
Signing players like Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze has blocked Nwaneri’s path into the first team, and a loan move could be on the cards.
Arsenal have been keen to keep Nwaneri in the squad, but it’s becoming increasingly hard to justify keeping the teenager around when he’s made just three starts in all competitions.
Martin Odegaard’s return to form all but confirms Ethan Nwaneri’s departure
Martin Odegaard produced his best display of the season against Brighton on the weekend, with a goal and five chances created.
The Norwegian international has struggled with injuries this season, but his performance on Saturday shows he’s getting back to his best.
With Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke vying for the right wing, that leaves the number ten role as the only realistic position for Nwaneri to play.
But if Eze can’t even get a game there right now, then the 18-year-old certainly stands very little chance of getting minutes anytime soon.
